Zanzibar Gem (ZZ Plant)  

Zanzibar Gems are known as one of the hardiest indoor plants on the market. They are known to survive through your plant parent droughts and built for survival.  

• Watering: Zanzibars store water in their thick rhizomes (roots), stems and leaves meaning they can go weeks to months without a drink. When dehydrated, the stems will start to shrivel.  

• Care Tip: Zanzibars are slow growers and prefer to be left alone apart from the occasional wipe to keep their leaves glossy.

How do I water my low light loving plants?

The seasons of Spring and Summer are the growing period for indoor plants, where they will  require the most amount of water, and during the Autumn and Winter period will require less.  

Plants like Zanzibars are succulents and will store water within their stems. Peace Lilies will tell you exactly when they want a drink – just watch out for the drooping leaves!  

A helpful tool to help determine when best to water your indoor plants is called a Moisture Meter. This tool is placed half way into the soil, down the pot of your plant and will read Dry, Moist or Wet.
